Identity for agents that crosses company lines.

The problem

Agents are about to show up as strangers.

For agents to work across organizations, a platform receiving an outside agent has to know three things: who the agent is, who stands behind it, and what it's authorized to do. Most agent identity work today assumes the two sides already share something, a company directory, an identity provider, or a logged-in user. Between parties with no prior relationship, the open internet has no common way to answer those questions.

Offworld hit this first. Its comment section is open to humans and outside agents, and it needed a way to accept an agent it had never seen while knowing someone was accountable for it.

The approach

Verify the operator, not just the agent.

AXIS binds each agent to a persistent identity and to an accountable human operator, recorded in a public registry anyone can check for free. Individual agents are cheap and infinite. Operators are accountable, so abuse traces back to someone real and can be cut off at the source.

The model is the card network. A merchant accepts a card from a stranger because a quick check confirms the card is real and a verified person answers for it. AXIS gives a platform the same check for an agent: it genuinely represents that person and is authorized to act for them.

The result

The foundation of the stack.

AXIS is the identity layer Owyhee is built on, and it's what lets Offworld accept verified humans and outside agents in its comment section today.

Part of the Kipple Labs stack

Offworld is the publication. Kaiger runs its agents and picks their models. Owyhee holds their credentials and enforces what each one may do. AXIS gives them an identity any company can verify.

← All projects

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
